A Holiday Tradition That Blends Nostalgia, Competition, and the Love of Wrestling
Triumph Wrestling Club Hosts Alumni Christmas Eve Practice, Bringing Together Former Teammates and Future Opponents
As the holiday season rolls in, Triumph Wrestling Club is keeping the mats warm with its annual Christmas Eve practice, welcoming back former wrestlers who are home from college. This special tradition brings together current high school athletes and alumni for an advanced, high-intensity session that blends nostalgia with preparation for the coming season.
For many of these returning wrestlers, the practice is a chance to reunite with former teammates, share memories, and relive the grind of high school training. But there’s an added layer of intrigue—some of these athletes, now competing at the collegiate level, find themselves in the same weight classes. While they’re teammates at Triumph today, they could be opponents when the season resumes.
Despite this competitive reality, the holiday spirit keeps the room lighthearted. Wrestlers push each other through drills, exchange stories of their college experiences, and enjoy the rare opportunity to train alongside those who once filled the same locker room. It’s a reminder that while the competition never fades, the bonds built through the sport remain just as strong.
“Getting back in this room with my old teammates, it feels like we never left,” said one returning wrestler. “We’re all here to make each other better, even if we end up seeing each other on opposite sides of the mat later in the season.”
As Christmas approaches, Triumph’s alumni practice serves as more than just a workout—it’s a celebration of the sport, the friendships it builds, and the relentless dedication that never takes a holiday.
