Rutgers Wrestling Preseason Preview: Looking Ahead to the 2024-2025 Season

The Rutgers wrestling team is gearing up for an exciting season as they kick off their campaign on November 9 at Journeymen’s Wranglemania. The Scarlet Knights will face off against Duke and Franklin & Marshall in one of several non-conference events on their schedule.

Ranked No. 20 in the FloWrestling preseason rankings, Rutgers enters the season with high hopes. The Scarlet Knights wrapped up last year’s NCAA tournament in the same No. 20 spot and will look to improve upon that finish with a talented roster.

Rutgers returns two All-Americans in Dylan Shawver (No. 6 at 133) and Yaraslau Slavikouski (No. 5 at 285), both of whom are expected to be key contributors throughout the season. Adding to the excitement, Dean Peterson (No. 10 at 125), Jackson Turley (No. 14 at 174), Brian Soldano (No. 22 at 184), and John Poznanski (No. 15 at 197) round out the team’s ranked wrestlers, bringing a blend of experience and potential to the mat.

The Scarlet Knights will kick off their Big Ten schedule on the road, taking on the Indiana Hoosiers on January 10. A pair of formidable opponents, Ohio State and Penn State, loom large on the horizon, with these teams likely to be pivotal in determining Rutgers' success in the conference.
