Freehold Borough Shows Fight in Competitive Battle Against Brick Township

Despite falling short in a 44-31 dual loss, Freehold Borough put together a gritty performance, with several wrestlers delivering standout victories, including an absolutely dominant showing from Sean Murphy.

Murphy wasted no time making a statement at 126 pounds, overwhelming Brick Township’s Robert Pryszmont in just 1:13. From the opening whistle, Murphy was in complete control, relentlessly attacking and racking up points before securing a lightning-fast pin that left no doubt about his dominance.

Freehold Borough also found success in the lower weights, with David Baez (106) and Josiah Sweeney (113) delivering clutch pins to keep the Colonials within striking distance. Baez needed just 1:18 to take down his opponent, while Sweeney battled his way to a fall at 4:25. John Murphy added to the momentum at 138 pounds, pinning Zakary Perez in just 31 seconds for one of the fastest wins of the night. Joshua Toledo (144) also chipped in with a hard-fought 6-2 decision win.

Adrian Lopez-Roldan provided a bright spot in the middle weights with an impressive major decision victory at 165 pounds, showcasing his offensive firepower in a commanding 13-5 win.

While Brick Township ultimately secured the team victory, Freehold Borough’s performance showed plenty of promise. With several wrestlers proving they can win in dominant fashion, the Colonials have plenty to build on moving forward. If they can continue to develop their depth and capitalize on key opportunities, they’ll be a tough team to beat down the stretch.
