Bergen Catholic Powers Through Don Bosco Prep with a 50-19 Victory

In a highly anticipated wrestling matchup, Bergen Catholic showcased their wrestling dominance with a 50-19 win over Don Bosco Prep. With stellar performances across the board, BC athletes delivered big points through pins, technical falls, and major decisions. The victory was highlighted by a remarkable 5 pins and 2 technical falls, which helped them secure the win and prove their strength.


Key Performances and Match Highlights

The match began with Nathan Braun (132) of Bergen Catholic, who set the tone with a quick pin at 0:44 over Connor McHugh (Don Bosco Prep), giving BC an early lead. Following that, Gideon Gonzalez (138) earned a 13-7 decision over Jacob Inserra, and Manny Gusfa (144) continued the trend with a technical fall victory (21-4) in 5:11 over Donovan Minichetti.


In the 150 lb match, Sowzrawca Tsay (BC) pinned Jayden Sanchez (DBP) in 1:16, and the momentum for Bergen Catholic kept building as Joey Canova (157) pinned Leonard Piwowarski in just 18 seconds.


Don Bosco Prep fought back in the 165 lb match with Santino Rodriguez, who earned a hard-fought 8-3 decision over AJ DiGiovanni (BC). However, BC answered with Genti Idrizi, who picked up a dominant technical fall (20-3) in 4:20 over Nicholas LoBrutto (DBP), extending their lead to 31-3.


As the match continued, Don Bosco Prep picked up some points with Nevin Mattessich’s (190) pin at 2:47 over Brian Clifford, and Dante DeLuca (215) earned a technical fall (20-5) in 2:15 over Ralphie Barca, narrowing the gap to 31-14.


However, Bergen Catholic closed the match strong. Benjamin Shue (285) pinned Tyler Puleo (DBP) in 1:04, and Matthew Mulligan (106) picked up a pin in 5:03 over Will Webb (DBP). BC continued to assert their dominance, with Marcos Asan (113) securing a 10-2 major decision over Ayden Clancy, and Micah Loudermilk (120) finishing the match with a 7-2 decision over Rocco Graffeo (DBP).


The final highlight came at 126 lbs, where Andrew Bonita (DBP) earned a technical fall (19-3) in 3:07 over Elijah Winn (BC), but it wasn’t enough to close the gap, as Bergen Catholic had already built an insurmountable lead.
